THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD CV

Never underestimate the value of a good CV, generally this is Julie Price Recruitment's initial means of introduction to a prospective employer. A well presents CV will often determine whether or not you are selected for an interview. We will advise you on your CV if you wish as part of our service. There are several points to remember when preparing a CV:
  •
  • Keep sentences and paragraphs short and to the point - they hold attention. Avoid the use of the word 'I' - use note form when describing your experience e.g. 'responsible for…', 'set up a…' etc.
  •
  • Start with your current or most recent position. State all duties and main areas of responsibilities related to your position.
  •
  • Make special mention of your particular achievements and contributions, especially those most recent.
  •
  • Remember, keep the length of your CV as short as possible. Do not miss out relevant points but be concise and keep to the point. Busy clients will not read lengthy CV's.

    INTERVIEWS

MAKING THE INTERVIEW WORK FOR YOU

To make an impression in an interview you will need to look at three things: Research * State of Mind * Presentation Firstly, research - Julie Price Recruitment will obviously provide you with details of the job description and the company, but these are only a starter. Find out about the company, it's accounts, products, people, recent account wins and developments. Visit their website, phone up for a company brochure.

Secondly, state of mind - relax and enjoy the interview! The company has a recruitment need and see you as someone who can fill that need. Look upon any difficult question as an opportunity to shine or clarify something. You have ambition, so be enthusiastic, identify the company's problem and solve it.

Thirdly, presentation - take along some recent work/projects; make a good impression by looking the part it will also make you feel better. Be on time - don't arrive too early, but don't be late. The interview should be a meeting where there is an exchange of mutually beneficial information, so think about what you can do for the company.
